October 2003 Data Summary

Instruments were deployed from R/V Point Sur.  Primary IOP instruments were deployed on the HydroProfiler package to collect data throughout the water column, and the WALRUS hyperspectral radiometer buoy was deployed in a tethered mode to collect upwelling and downwelling light spectra, just above and just below the surface.

For access to the data, please contact HOBI Labs.

Cast designations:

  • HP = HydroProfiler profile
  • W = WALRUS; the WALRUS buoy is allowed to drift behind the ship, well away from its shadow, while Es values are simultaneously measured on deck
  • HS = HydroScat-6 profile; the HydroScat-6 was deployed separately from the HydroProfiler, allowing scattering profiles to greater depths

Each day, a separate series of cast numbers was used for each type of cast.  That is, each day might have casts HP1, HP2, etc., W1, W2, etc. and HS1, HS2, etc.
