Downwelling

Propagating downward (vs. upwelling).  Originally referring to physical transport of water, it also applies to light, for example downwelling irradiance (Ed).

Note that light collectors must be pointed in the direction opposite to the direction of the light they measure, so a "downwelling" light collector points up.
