  • Weight in air: Varies depending on configuration. 25 to 34 kg (55 to 75 lbs)
WALRUS in open water

Optical

  • Calibrated wavelength range: either 350nm to 850nm or 400 to 1000 nm (see spectrometer options)
  • Spectral bandwidth: 2.4 nm (0.4nm pixel resolution)
  • Fiber Optics: Quartz, sealed in thick 316SS spars.

Electrical

  • Internal rechargeable batteries provide up to 18 hours of continuous operation
  • Optional external power supply:
    9V to 15V, 350 mA max (4 spectrometers)
  • 8-pin connector assignments:
Pin 1: Supply voltage (9 to 15 VDC)
    Pin 2: common
    Pin 3: RS232 Instrument receive
    Pin 4: RS232 Instrument transmit
Pin 5: Battery charging input (18 to 24 VDC)
Pin 6: RS232 receive from Slave (N/C with compass installed)
Pin 7: RS232 transmit to Slave (N/C with compass installed)
    Pin 8: Battery disable

Environmental

  • Operating Temperature: 0 to 35 C

Data Logging

  • Nonvolatile storage of more that 30,000 full spectra, or over 1 million sampled spectra.
  • Calibration can be applied to data by the WALRUS, or externally on PC
  • Variable, programmable sampling rates
  • Variable integration time: 20ms to 30 seconds per sample
  • Sampling controlled by real-time clock or manual switch
