Reflectance, Remote Sensing

The ratio of radiance leaving the water (upwelling) to irradiance incident on the water (downwelling).  So-named because it indicates the effective reflectance of a body of water when viewed by a remote sensor such as an airborne or satellite radiometer.  Notated as RSR or R_RS.
